Sex & which ever city you're in!

As we drive along this road called life, occasionally a gal will find herself a little lost. And when that happens, I guess she has to let go of the coulda, shoulda, woulda, buckle up and just keep going.” - Carrie Bradshaw

I'm pretty sure a majority of guys have followed Carrie Bradshaw and her hot sexy 30 something friends all over New York city through their trials and errors of career & relationship drama. But the girls may have found that "SATC" was their religious guide to fashion, guys and everything else in life.

Charolette trying to find a husband and be married, while Samatha wants to try out a "new dish" every night. In the mean time Miranda's independant persona wants the challange that will keep her on her toes, while Carrie... well Carrie is just lost and doesnt know what she wants... except for the Jimmy Choo's and the Malano Blankis'.

You've all heard of the popular series, 'Sex & the City' and a majority of you would have seen a couple of episodes, while others watched a couple more and others... well, bought the Box Set! I'm at the 3rd Season right now and I've decided to actually analyze each episode and dedicated a blog to it. Yes, I have nothing better to do. Yes, I know its crazy, but from my perspective... I actually not only love the bonding of the 4 girlfriends in the series, the amazing shoes, parties and clothes they have, but each episode takes you into rather frightening realities of life! The realities of relationships and the pain or ecstaticness one feelings before, during or after they are in or out of one.

It got me thinking... these 'realities' just dont happen in the states or some episode, written and re-written... it does happen in real life and many of the issues tackled in the series have occurred to myself, friends I know, or friends of friends... and I'd like to tell their stories...

S.Pepper... I told you so!

Well, this might be a little awkward, since I'm posting this up as sort of a "naa naa na naaaa naaa" told you so, kinda thing, but in a place like Dubai, you tend to notice change, unless, seriously... you are blind. Everyday there is a new advert up or a change of banners for the same place; ever changing banners to keep everyone's attention span as big as possible.

Now, what you see in the picture here is an advert for one of the restaurants at the Fairmount hotel (cafe sushi), to which the bridge the ad is posted on, connects to. Previously, they had a banner up for a bar/lounge there named "Cin Cin". In less than a month, they changed it to this and I kept telling my friend that it has been changed, but he has said there was no way, since he was just there and they had just posted the 'Cin Cin' one up less than a few weeks prior...

Well, pictures dont lie... especially if i'm taking them while driving!

So, another sleepless night, another post on the blog. I was talking to a friend of mine earlier on tonight about movies and their meaning and their soundtracks, yada yada yada... and he told me to choose 4 of the best films I ever saw and would not mind watching again. Without hesitation, the top 4 picks are (in no particular order of preference):

1- Amadeus

2- Mary Shelley's Frankenstein

3- Immortal Beloved

4- Bram Stoker's Dracula

Each movie has its own "aura", but all are similar in one aspect: they leave you wanting more. All movies were (still are actually) brilliant! Everything from cast to costumes, settings to screenplay, dramatic scenes to director's visions... all of them came out in their own brilliance (all done between late 80's to early 90's).

Check them out, when you're bored of all the lastest and greatest movies at the cinemas now and you're just in the mood to stay at home, avoid the traffic and do the traditional thing: watch a good movie with a bowl of popcorn. Ladies... get your hankies, gentlemen... give'm a shoulder to cry on...

History is rising, and rising... and rising - we're partly to blame ;)

Seeing as how this is supposed to be the 'CURRENT' World's Tallest Tower (under construction), I'd thought I'd update the fans of Burj Dubai. Now, most of you dont know this, (but those of you who do... I'm still going to boost about it) but we (as in the architectural firm I work for http://www.rnldesign.com/global.html) master planned the Burj Dubai project. We continued on to design 'The Old Town' section of the project itself, which is quite an acheivement. Recently opening our branch office in Dubai (which I'm proud to say I'm part of the founding team), the view we get from our office building is directly overlooking the Burj Dubai project... so we constantly get to see how the construction is going. So far so gooooood. The beauty about the whole thing is that we only master-planned this project less than 4 years ago and at the speed of which the construction is going... I think we'll get to see the completion of it before I get my next promotion!

More information about the projects in the following links:

We keep on waiting...

Waiting on the world to change...

If you're a fan of John Mayer, or great music in general, you'll love his new single:

"Waiting on the world to change"- Album:Continuum - 2006

Release Date:September 12th, 2006

His lyrics captivate the issues at hand in this day and age. It has truth to it...

"its hard to beat the system when we're standing at a distance..."

"one day our generation is going to rule the population, so we keep on waiting... waiting on the world to change"

I've always been a fan of John Mayer's music. He's a regular Joe that writes music from the heart and sings from the soul. He's been around for a while, but is very low key. Listen to his single via: www.johnmayer.com

and read his thoughts from his blogs... you'll find he's an interesting character. At least to me he is.

You bring light like a Sunrise... Sunrise

Can't sleep. Haven't been able to sleep properly in the past few weeks. Always up until the sun rises, so I got into the habit of playing an amazing song.

Watch the Sunrise - Axwell feat. Steve Edwards

In my car, on my laptop, in my office, at my friend's place... the song is being played everywhere I go, everyday for the past couple of weeks now. My previous song that was playing everywhere, (which annoyed the heck out of my friend) was 'Bring me Love' by Copyright feat. Imani.

I usually have a favorite song of the year. Last year... it was 'At Night' by Shakedown, then it was 'Raindrops' by Stunt.

Now its 'favorite song of the month' phase I'm going through. This month... I could list a Top 100 list! But if you're a Techno/Trance/House/Dance/Funk fan, check out my music listings from time to time. I have a great source that provides me with the latest and greatest music of the year.

Notice... most of the songs have connotations with the weather, nature or places...

Let us not forget my desperate 'want to be in Miami now' phase... "This is not Miami" by Sander Klienberg (he mentions Dubai as part of the cities in the song) Cool

Okay to be fashionable yet broke?

My new 'thing' is watching "Sex & the City". I've seen random episodes here and there, but I never watched the entire 6 seasons from start to end, so I decided a few weeks ago, that this would be my summer 'thing'. Catchin up on what the whole buzz was about. I sucessfully finished Season 1 and am on Season 2 at the moment Episode 3. Its a very interesting series, very funny as well. Each character has her own style, charisma and prestiage. If people were to categorize me with one of them, I would definitely be Carrie. The whole mess of her life, relationships, indecidable character and questioning comments she writes in her articles are so me. The fashion... well, that's another story.

Which brings me to my topic. The new D&G Motorola V3i Limited Edition Gold Mobile phone. Now, the features aren't that great, but its been in my head ever since its been released and I've had the urge to buy it. All my friends tell me its not worth it ($480/KD160), but I've been thinking... its stylish... one of a kind and its D&G for cryin out loud. Now, I've been known not to be the type to buy things just because they are from a certain designer... but for some reason this phone has captivated my attention. I need more opinions... Anyone?

Check out the ads on the site... they make it seem more fabulous (I know I'll go broke if I get it, but you only live once, ya?)  http://eng.dolcegabbana.it/main.asp

Modern homes made easy

Friend of mine sent me this link. Thought to himself... "Since she's an architect, she might need a few new lessons on the latest and greatest in the industry." He was right!

With technology and innovative solutions like these, who needs to wait years to build their dream home? Think about all the places we can rebuild with structures like this. Kudos to the architects. You learn something new every minute of the day.

Death of Karma... already?

So, flipping through the internet pages on a sleepless night, I found this... The death of Karma. While I read the article I found out how ironic it was that I just posted a blog about "My name is Earl" and was interested in the fact that there was a series pinpointing Karma and all the issues associated with doing good... yada yada yada...

It got me thinking... Everyone (the majority let's say) believe somewhat in Karma... why is the suddenly the pessimistic opnion that its dying out? Could it be from the major events that are happening world wide? Wars happening left and right, the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer. Bird Flu, new dieseases and even more natural disasters in the past ten years then in the history of the formation of earth.

I wonder...
